LA PAZ (Reuters) - At least 46 people died in Bolivia on Tuesday when a truck loaded with goods and peasants lurched off a mountainous highway and fell nearly 1,000 feet , local media reported.

This was the worst traffic accident in Bolivia so far this year, injuring at least 11 people and counting several children among the dead.

"The truck was loaded with 60 people who were sitting on top of their loads, which crushed them when the truck fell," Erbol radio reported.

The accident took place in Yocalla, a town in southern Bolivia nearly the mining city of Potosi.
