Japan quake hurts many, shuts plants

July 24 - A strong earthquake jolted northern Japan early Thursday, injuring at least 99 people and affecting output at some high-tech factories.

Flag carrier Japan Airlines and other firms are backers, and the Japan Olympic Committee's official airline has ties since the Tokyo Games in 1964.
