Blog Guy, I’ve been following your coverage of that San Fermin festival over there in Pamplona. So who’s winning?

Sadly the bulls always lose in the end, but I must say they’ve had a pretty good couple of days. In a four-minute running of the bulls today, several people were injured and one runner was killed.

Meanwhile, over at the bull ring, hotshot bullfighter El Cid had a real embarrassing experience.

Check out the photo below. What’s interesting about it is, it’s the only one of a whole series that I can actually use here. Thanks to some pinpoint horn work by this bull, the crotch on the bullfighter’s silly outfit was ripped open, leaving all of his male parts fully exposed to the crowd.

And while it’s not really for me to judge, it didn’t look all that impressive, either.

If you have eyes in your head, or maybe even if you don't, you can see that something more interesting is going on here, and that Obama and Sarkozy aren't giving their fullest attention to finding their places for the group photo.

It’s time once again for an episode of our popular feature, Stuff Maybe We Should Have Mentioned in the Caption, But Didn’t.

Yesterday they shot the group photo of the world leaders who participated in a summit in L’Aquila, Italy.

Our actual caption on this photo here tells us that President Barack Obama and French President Nicolas Sarkozy “take their places with junior G8 delegates for a family photo…”

I guess it didn’t occur to us to mention that something far more interesting is going on here, and that Obama and Sarkozy aren’t giving their fullest attention to finding their places for the group photo.

I don’t believe that chick is the leader of a country, not even a little-bitty one, so she must be one of those “junior delegates.”

I couldn’t find her in the group photo of the real leaders, but maybe she was voted out of office just before they snapped the picture.

Sure. Look at this summit photo of Obama on an endless red carpet. That’s pretty typical.

A recent efficiency study found that leaders of major countries spend 72 percent of their time walking, mostly in grand hallways. It appears to be the reason why so little gets done.

You take the White House. The pictures below show Obama making endless trips back and forth to the East Room using a hallway which is roughly two miles long.

Do you think he feels like actually working by the time he gets there? Heck no. He slugs down a frosty cold Corona Light and then heads back the other way.

Blog Guy, I was very interested in your report yesterday on the San Fermin festival, in Spain. May I ask a question about it?

Sure. I know quite a bit about the festival.

Well, I was wondering what it looks like if someone uses a phone at the festival.

Good question! I think it would look something like this photo here.

Very interesting. One more thing. If the woman in that photo was a long-lost love child of actor Dick Van Dyke, calling to say “Daddy, it’s your daughter, I’m running with the bulls at Pamplona!” What would his reaction look like?

It would probably resemble the picture below.

Thanks, Blog Guy. Your resources are simply amazing! I didn’t think you’d be able to pull that one off.

Well, I did get very lucky with that telephone shot.

It’s time to run with the bulls, but it’s also a time for chic parties. As you can see here, the Beautiful People are out in force, enjoying fine local food and wine.

You know, I notice that the Beautiful People seem to be doing a lot of retching and puking.

What did you expect? You asked about the lush life, and I gave you lushes.

All of your captions always refer to these people as “revelers.” What does that mean?

I believe the definition of reveler is “somebody you’d never give your real phone number to.”

He puts the hocus-pocus on them.

I beg your pardon? The hocus-pocus?

You know, the old mumbo jumbo. The hootchie-kootchie. The big whammy. He wiggles his fingers, makes a frowny face, gives them the stink eye…

You would have us believe the U.S. President performs some sort of hypnotic wizardry on people to make them loyal?

Sure. This photo shows him in the act.

About that photo. You news people should be ashamed, taking a picture like that of the president. Shame on you!

Oh, I wouldn’t worry too much about us news people. Actually, this is an official White House photo.

Quick quiz: The people in these photos are smiling because they got tickets to…

a) A $40 million lottery

b) A dinner with President Barack Obama

c) A private audience with the pope

d) A memorial service

Yeah, surprisingly, it’s the memorial service thing.

I guess this finally explains that old expression, “as happy as a guy going to a memorial service.”

Blog Guy, I know you’re a sports enthusiast. Do you actually participate in any popular sports?

You bet! I just got back from the annual Kirkpinar oil wrestling tournament, in Turkey.

I just don’t see you as a Turkish oil wrestler.

It’s great! About 2,000 wrestlers all oiled up, slathering and slithering for three days in different categories.

What on earth kind of “different categories” are there in oil wrestling?

Well, you’ve got Canola Oil, Olive Oil, Bacon Grease, PAM Spray…

Then you’ve got the combo categories like Oil and Vinegar, Oil and Breadcrumbs, Chickpeas, Honey, Garlic, Almonds, Sizzling Prawns and all your Fondue categories…

So you enjoy the physical contact, the thrill of gladiator-style combat?

Heck no. I just go for the great smell. It’s like being at a Benihana!
